The Sun
The Sun is what you are doing. It is not the whole person. A horoscope that only names the Sun is not this chart.
A birth chart
Read three things first. The Sun, the Moon, and the rising sign. Everything else is a conversation between them.
The Sun is what you are doing. It is not the whole person. A horoscope that only names the Sun is not this chart.
The Moon is what you need when nobody is performing. It can disagree with the Sun. That disagreement is ordinary.
The rising sign is who arrives first. It needs a birth time and a city. Without the time, the horizon is not invented.
An aspect is two points in the same chart within a few degrees of a hard angle. The tight ones are the sentence. A long list is not a personality.
Read the Sun, then the Moon, then the rising sign. After that, one tight aspect. Houses come only if the birth time is known. A list of every planet is not a reading.
Synastry sets one chart against another. A composite builds a third chart. They are not the same reading.
It is not a sun-sign horoscope, and it is not a Vedic chart. The zodiac here is tropical. Whole-sign houses are counted from the rising sign.
A birth chart is the sky at one moment, from one place. You need the date. You need the city, because the city sets the time zone. You need the time if you want the rising sign and the houses. A chart without a time still has a Sun and, on most days, a Moon. It does not have a horizon.
The time on the form is the time on the clock where you were born, including daylight saving if that place used it. The time on the phone you are holding now does not matter.
Read these three before any other planet. The Sun is what you are doing. It is the part a sun-sign horoscope is willing to talk about, and it is not the whole chart. The Moon is what you need when nobody is watching. It can sit in a sign that argues with the Sun. That argument is normal. People who only know their Sun often meet their Moon as a mood they cannot explain.
The rising sign is the sign that was coming up on the eastern horizon. It is who arrives first: the face, the pace, the first impression. It changes about every two hours, so a birth time that is off by an hour can move it. Without a time, this site does not guess one.
Houses are the rooms of the life, not a second set of signs. This site uses whole-sign houses. The rising sign is the whole of the first house. The next sign is the second, and so on around the wheel. A planet in a sign describes how it acts. The house describes where that action shows up.
House 1 is how you enter a room. House 2 is money and what you keep. House 3 is talk, siblings, and the short trips of a day. House 4 is home and the private life. House 5 is what you make for the pleasure of it, including romance that is still play. House 6 is the work of the day and the body you have to keep running.
House 7 is the other person: a partner, a client, the one across the table. House 8 is what is shared, and what is not casual. House 9 is the far thing: travel, study, a belief. House 10 is the public role, the work with your name on it. House 11 is friends and a future built with other people. House 12 is what stays unsaid, and the need to stop.
An aspect is two points near a hard angle. A conjunction is them on top of each other. A sextile is a side door. A square is pressure. A trine is an easy path, sometimes so easy that nothing gets done. An opposition is two sides of one argument.
The chart lists a contact when it is within a few degrees. A wide contact is not written up as if it were exact. One tight aspect is a sentence. A list of every planet is not a reading.
The outer planets move slowly. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto describe a generation before they describe you. They matter when they sit on an angle or on the Sun or Moon. They do not replace the Sun, the Moon, and the rising sign.
A sun-sign horoscope is a different page. It uses the Sun only, and it changes with the sky today. The birth chart does not change. Synastry sets two charts against each other. A composite builds a third chart for the bond. Those are not this page.
